Dear All,

Myself along with my husband and 8 year old kid planning to include a visit to Cairns in our Australia Trip . Great Barrier Reef - From Photos looks amazing and people are saying its one of the major attraction in Australia .

Unfortunately me and my husband are completely non swimmers and the child knows basic swimming.

Whats do you people suggest ? Can we do Snorkeling ? The child of 8 yrs old is allowed for activities there ?

Personally, I would not recommend snorkelling, if you can't swim, as you might get anxious, even with flotation devices. And you will have to look after your child at the same time. The mask and snorkel can also take some getting used to, especially if you're not comfortable in the water.

Oh, and March is still cyclone season, though the chances of a cyclone affecting your vacation are unlikely. Cyclone Larry afflicted serious damage in Queensland in March 2006.

I'm not sure about your childs but you two guys can do with SEAWALKER. It's no matter if you guys can swim or not. besides that you can indulge and explore the great barrier reef with some other ways like,

1. SCUBA DOO
2. GLASS-BOTTOM BOAT
3. SUBMARINE
4. SEAPLANE

I also would not recommend snorkeling with floaters, you could swallow water etc and you would definitely panic. There's plenty of other options to see the reef in submersibles etc which are part of the ticket price, its definitely a great experience
