Great Barrier Reef
Hi everyone,

i am gonna be in Sydney from February 2003 and would like to organize a trip to Great Barrier Reef. Are flights from Sydney there expensive and is there an alternative way to get there? Moreover any suggestions about which islands to visit are welcome. Dont care too much about fishing and snorkelling, though i love swimming and white sand beaches are a priority for me. Thanx in advance

I would suggest just waiting till you get there to buy a tour because you can choose from so many. In the meantime you can either wait for someone to answer you on this forum or do a search of GBR / Daintree / Port Douglas / Kuranda / Atherton Tablelands / Barrier Reef Islands
Also I have included the site for Qantas internet site with internet specials just click "leave from Sydney" and you will get the options. Also check out their holiday specials

In reference to the Islands, if you get Fodor's 2002, Australia, you'll find a detailed description of all the islands and everything you need to know about them. As far as airfare, I just bought a boomerang pass from quantas. (Need to buy it before you enter Australia). You should call them and have them explain the intricacies of the rules.
