Fly fishing hotel

We are planning our first trip to New Zealand. Very excited!! Someone told us to stay at Huka Lodge for the best fishing. Is this a good tip?

John,
You don't seem to be getting much response, so I can try to help you a bit. Can't offer any insight into the Huka Lodge, though. We were in Manapouri for the overnight cruise on Doubtful and found a small 2-room B&B. The owner is a fly fishing outfitter/guide, expat from Pennsylvania. This may take some research, but I know he appears in some guidebooks, maybe another poster can help with his name and B&B name. Anyway, he lives and breathes the sport and is very knowledgable and friendly. He is one of the off the beaten path kind of guys. Good luck, have fun.

We are going to NZ in March. We are staying at Lake Brunner Lodge which supposidly has outstanding fly fishing, and we are also staying at Blanket Bay. Huka and Blanket Bay are known as two of the outstanding lodges in NZ with great food, accomodations and fishing.

Joan, Thank you for the info! The web site for Blanket Bay looks great!
Carolyn, will look some more in my guidebooks for your suggestion. I really appreciate the help, as this is our very first time "down under".
