@BigRuss we're not in business class, but we splurged a bit for Premium Economy, so hoping the extra few inches helps make it a little more tolerable.
@Bokhara2 thanks so much for all the pointers! Well one thing for sure, here in Philadelphia, home of the notorious US reality show "Parking Wars", we are more than familiar with very restrictive parking rules, so that won't be anything too unusual Thanks for the tips on speeding. I did have a friend who is originally from Brisbane mention the speeding cameras too, so we will be on the lookout and will mind our speed. We do have a few roundabouts here in the US near where we live, so not totally unfamiliar with them except that they go the opposite direction here. I fully expect to be signaling with wipers and getting in the wrong side of the car the whole trip. Just hoping I can keep my brain focused and US driving habits in check while on the road in OZ. It will certainly be an adventure!

Cat, my hubby and I flew round trip to Australia this past Feb. in Premium Economy on Qantas. Best move we ever made. You board with business class, have a drink when you board and the food is an upgrade from economy. Seats are roomy and the flight attendants are attentive. With Ambien, I slept for about 8 hours. QF has noise cancelling headphones for you to use (comp) while on the flight. You will love PE.
If you have a chip in your USA passport, check at the Brisbane arrival terminal to see if they have a kiosk to bypass the immigration line (there is one in Melbourne). I had one in my passport, but hubby did not. I waited over an hour in baggage claim for him to pass through customs and immigration. As soon as we returned to the US he renewed his passport so that it has a chip.
Have a wonderful time!
