diving & accommodation in fiji?
Hi everyone
We are looking for accomodation in Fiji for a week in late April. Has anyone any recommendations in regard to a nice (but not horribly expensive) place with great diving?

Would prefer to get away to the outer islands somewhere, need a beautiful beach, good food, great diving, prefer quiet and seclusion, particulary interested in beach bungalows/bures with private bath.

Have been leaning toward may be Taveuni, Matangi, or Kadavu, but are open to any sugestions,
Thanks!

Kerry,
Do a serarch for Marlin Bay Resort on the island of Beqa. Just off the coral coast, it's a small island resort that caters to divers. It's the ONLY resort on the island, and is not terribly expensive. EXCELLENT food, lovely accommodations (were only 12 Bures in Sept '98 but they were building more) and a great 'Fiji' experience. Beqa is home of the 'Firewalkers'. Have fun wherever you end up.

Hi there, I wouldn't recommend Marlin though I haven't been to that particular resort. I have been to quite a few of the others and can offer knowledge. In all my trips to Fiji (I have been traveling there for over 20 yrs) Each experience is unique and memorable. There isn't another place like it. I think it blows Tahiti away!! I have found this web site that I used and was a great value and service was good too. There was a whole section of the site dedicated to diving in Fiji and what resorts were the best. I remember that an all inclusive package w/ air started at 1200.00 per person. Any way maybe it will help.
FIJIVACATIONS.COM
mELISSA

Geez, Melissa, do you think we're all dumber than a sack of hammers? You found a great website....isn't it interesting that it's yours and you're trying to sell something from it. Last week you were offering discountsfrom this website and now you "seem" to remember packages starting at $1200.00. You don't have to be the sharpest pencil in the can to see what you're doing.
Diane

We do not dive but we have been to both Matangi and Marlin Bay. We would select Matangi over Marlin Bay but the latter may cost much less as you do not have an additional air fare to Taveuni. It is hard to go wrong in Fiji as you get what you pay for. In my observation Matangi has a better dive operation.
