I used them about a year ago to make reservations on line for hotels in both Bangkok and Chang Mai. There were absolutely no problems. They took my credit card number by Fax. Since time was short, they sent the vouchers to both hotels in advance and again there were no problems. I stayed at the Sheraton along the river in Bangkok and it was luxurious. The only question I have is wether this years rates fully reflect the fall in the baht. I remember paying about $125.US per night just whe the crisis started. Still, they still probably represent the best value for someone who wants to do all the planning. Email me if you have any other questions.

Thank you soooo much. For the Sheraton,( what a coincidance, is where we choose to stay), they quote min.$101 with breakfast. If you can spare some time, I will realy appreciate some advise on Ching Mai. They offer some appealing trips in the hills with elephants rides and all.
Thank you
Daniela

I used Diethelm travel in April. Great discounts at hotels, but expensive on day trips. hired my own guides/drivers for less money per day --even up to Burma. Can give you names, fax nos., phone nos. if interested. Stayed in C. Mai -- Empress -- 4* rating but should be 5*. Beautiful -- pd. USD$30 for single room larger than usual doubles. great location to night market. taxis cheap to get around (use tuk tuks and bargain for rates). went to elephant safari/rafting trip, best time of trip. if you want any further info, just e-mail me.
I have used Diethelm Travel in Bangkok twice, most recently in May, 1998, but I have only purchased airline tickets from them. The service was efficient and professional, as far as I know. Regarding Chiang Mai, I recommend highly the River View Lodge, a beautiful oasis on the river near the night market. It is not the cheapest place in town, but the amenities and setting are worth the extra baht. P
