Coconut Beach Rainforest Lodge

Has anyone been to the Coconut Beach Rainforest Lodge since the completion of the refurbishment? Please post your reaction.

Also, are the "retreats" individual lodges/huts? How would you rate the privacy level at the resort? (I don't want to hear my neighbor's conversation, door slamming, etc.) How was the food? Is the beach nearby? Any place to lounge around when not partaking in their myriad of activities?

Thank you!

Haven't ever stayed there but have been there often enough. At least some of, the "retreats" are individual, and spaced apart. Its rainforest surrounded and fronts onto remote beach - lovely pool on beachside.

Is this the one at Cape Trib? If so I haven't been there since the refurb but if it is any help it was fantastic before. We were in one of the stand alone rooms all done out in timbers just beautiful and no neighbour noise. Great restaurant, beach right there & nice lounge. Two lovely pools. It was our honeymoon and a beautiful place.

Thank you for the info. My husband and I are looking for a luxury resort on/near the GBR yet we appreciate low key and "nature focused" activities rather than the disco scene. I'm also considering Dunk Island. Any thoughts? (I've studied the Dunk Island messages throughout this board. Just curious to know if you had any different notions.)

Thank you!

catbe - anther lovely one not mentioned here is Bloomfield Wilderness Lodge north of Cape Tribulation and only accessible by seaplane or boat. If you're considering as far south as Dunk, you go a little further in that direction to Hinchinbrook Wilderness Resort, Hinchinbrook is Australia's largest National Park island.
