my husband sent me a email months ago about a small (?I think it was all inclusive-not positive)-island with burahs/over water cottages. The name started with a N......it was in the pacific somewhere - please help!! I want to plan a trip ther........

Could it have been Namele esort on Fiji. They have private bures that are near but not over the water.

There are scores of resorts (most all inclusive) scattered through the Fiji islands that have overwater bures. Do a google search for "Fiji Resorts" and you'll find more information than you can read in a week.

Roams is correct, it is Namale, and the resort your husband was mentioning was the Namale Resort and Spa, which is all-inclusive - meals, beverages, laundry, transfers to/from the Savusavu airport, and all the resort activities (except for scuba, which is extra). Rates start @ approx. $4375 w/air from LAX.

There are 6 bures in the rainforest, and 6 honeymoon bures that face the ocean & beach - those have a spa tub that are surrounded by windows and a private oceanview deck.

As bures are built on mounds of earth, how can they be over the sea?

maybe you're referring to the correct, or historical term for "bures"? I don't know where the term actually derives from, as you may, but it's been "translated" or has come to mean, any sort of hut type of accommodation that looks relatively like what the locals would live in (but in the tourist type of case, much much nicer)!

Thanks for the responses - I remember it had a Y in the name - started with a N. The website showed a small island, and I believe it was all inclusive. Any other recommendations on other places to stay would be great. We stayed last year at Kamalame and love the luxery Robinson Crusoe feel.
