Can anyone out there suggest a great resort in Fiji?

Can anyone out there suggest a great resort in Fiji?

My wife and I are contemplating a first-ever trip to Fiji in January. We’re looking for a small resort (fewer than 100 rooms), comfortable to luxury accommodations, with diving nearby. Great food would be a plus. If you’ve been to such a place, please post a reply. Many thanks!
Hi Neal,

Try the website www.spac.com It is very thorough, and htey will send you a brochure/packet of information that has all of the hotels shown on the site. We are trying to plan our honeymoon, and there are so many wonderful places there. A few that caught my eye: Vatulele, Turtle Island (very $$)Matangi --they are all very small. But def. check out the website--there are tons of places to stay!

Good luck--

Matangi is wonderful. The bures (I think l2) are lovely, food great and you will be treated like a special member of the family. They would do anything for you. I have heard that Qamea is also very nice. The one thing I would do is check and see if the coral has been damaged - maybe with a dive store here. It has been two years since we were there. We only snorkel but all the divers were off a couple times a day by boat to short distances from the island.

Neal: A friend and his wife, both Americans in their 30s, went to Fiji for the first time on their honeymoon in September. They stayed at 2 resorts: Qamea, which they said was very nice, and Namale, which they said was unbelievably "pamper-yourself-like-you've-never-been pampered-before" spectacular. Maybe you can do a search and find websites. They loved Fiji.

Hi Neal,
I just got back from a two week vacation in fiji with my girlfriend and it was incredible. Here 's my review on the places we stayed. First stop Taveuni Island Resort- the island does not have a lot of white sandy beaches, its more of a lush garden island. It has great scenic attractions, i.e, Lavena Falls, water slide (be careful) and great diving. The resort is somewhat pricey, but laid back and private (only 7 bures- stay in the cliffside honeymoon bure, unbelievable) The food is good (lunch could improve) and the staff overwhelmingly friendly (Tell Tomasi to make you his rum punch). The next stop was Yasawa Island Resort- more of a posh place with great secluded beaches. It's very romantic and tropical , they have only 16 bures. You can really feel like its your own private island sometimes. The food is excellent and the staff is there to pamper you at all times. There's great snorkeling, private beach escapes and blue lagoon caves. This place was a little more expensive than Taveuni, but worth it.
Even if you choose other places, I guarantee you will come back a totally more relaxed person.
Enjoy!
In my book Matangi www.matangiisland.com is hard to beat for for the money. It is a family owned island that specializes in diving. The food, deluxe bures, help, and island beauty are exceptional. You seldom have much more than 20 people there. If you are a diver, I would stick to the places that specialize in diving and honeymooners. They have the best of both worlds.

They have a great web site which is very true to what you see and experience. Good luck.
