Anyone Flown Korean Airlines??
We are thinking of flying to the UK for Christmas, but as there are 6 in the family it gets a bit expensive. The cheapest flights seem to be with Korean Airlines, but I don't know too much ( read 'anything' into that!) about them. Has anyone out there flown with them, or been to Soeul? If so, would love to hear from you.

I've been on KAL many times (I've been living here in Korea for the past year) and have had no problems with them at all.
Seoul is a fun city with an interesting mix of old and new. Lots of things to explore and to keep you busy. Be prepared for some really spicy food though! Have a great trip!

I've never flown KAL...but I've been to Seoul, and had a blast! It's kinda like Tokyo in that there's lots of bright neon lights/active signs (remember when the US used to have really busy/active/elaborate neon signs? Seoul has them.) One place I'd recommend visiting is the Demilitarized zone (DMZ). It's about an hour away. I had the chills the entire time I was there. Take it all in...about how tensions remain high, both sides distrust each other, both sides have soldiers on alert and on constant patrol. Simply amazing.
Have fun...and yes, the food is spicy. But it's great!

i've been living 8 miles south of the DMZ for 6 months now, and i can tell you that Seoul is a fun place if you know where to look. it's huge, so there is something for everyone. KAL is a good organization, i have never had any problems with them. i flew to the Philippines with them and many of my friends use them to fly back to the states.
good luck!
-Ty

You'll get pleased by their service and thier beautiful flight attendants
Korean airline companys' standard for hiring flight attendants is very high. I heard the competition to be a flight attendant is 1 out 200. Once they got through the competition, they have to have get a hard training.
Believe me, their service is one of the best! Enjoy your trip.

I've never flown KA and judging by the other responses, the service is pretty good. However, their safety record leaves something to be desired. In fact United Airlines was brought in for retraining their pilots on procedures. UA quit in disgust. Recently asian operated airlines have been getting some very high visibility due to their safety records. Oh! I've got no fiduciary interest either for or against KA.
Cheers,

Jong
