BUDGET travel to Fiji
Hello there,
On a whim, my fiancee and I booked a trip to Christchurch, NZ and Fiji for January 2012, following our wedding. At first prices looked reasonable but the more I look, the more outrageous they seem.
Can anyone give me recommendations for a great, low-cost hotel and/or area to visit? Tour companies, etc.? I'm not looking to stay in a hostel or on a private island, but someplace easily accessible, beautiful and cozy.
Hoping I don't regret my decision...
Thanks!
Sarah

Last January, DH and I stopped in Fiji on the way back from New Zealand. We stayed at the Bedarra Beach Inn. Loved it! Ask for the Deluxe Hooneymooner. We stayed in that room as we were celebrating our 30th anniversary. It was awesome. You can snorkel right outside the hotel. Good low cost restaurants are within walking distance. It is an hour from Nadi (hotel will arrange transfers) on the Coral Coast.

I've stayed at Bedarra a few times and endorse BarbAnn's comments. It's very low key, well located and within walking distance to lots of the other resorts along the Coral Coast.
Depending on how long you're in Fiji, you might consider renting a car & exploring some of the hinterland on Viti Levu. Easy driving, picturesque & interesting.
