BridgeClimb advance bookings
BridgeClimb recommends that you make reservations a week in advance for week day climbs. Have any of you found this to be true? We would like to a climb at the last time slot that qualifies for a "day" rate on a Tuesday but we want to wait until we arrive in Sydney on the Saturday before to check out the weather and our scehdule.

Any advice/concerns/information on how early to book?

Thanks

Hi Jake,

If you can, try to wait. I hear the climbs do sell out, so I'd say it really depends how big your group is. If there's only two of you, you might be able to squeeze in somewhere. If you have your heart set on the last day climb, then I'd reserve the spot. Just be aware that they don't cancel the climb for any reason except for electrical storms.

I had booked mine in advance because I REALLY wanted to do it. Being the idiot that I am, I lost track of what day it was and went a day early (I was on vacation for three weeks by that time and had chucked my watch!). They processed my ticket, but when I realized it was the wrong day, they laughed and found another slot for me that day. Worked out great, as it was a pristine day.

But again, I was just one person. Have a groovy time.

Hi Jake-
When we arrived in Australia, I reserved a week in advance as there were 4 of us. I then agonized all week, thinking what if the weather is bad (it was mid-June), what if I chicken out, etc. Turned out the climb is so awesome, it is worth going even in the rain or wind.
You probably won't NEED to reserve for a tuesday, but I would if you want to go on that particular time of day. You'd hate to miss out on a great activity, and I also think the late afternoon climb is the best. Whatever you do, don't miss it!

Hi Jake,
I booked my bridgeclimb at 7am the morning I went! I think I was able to do it on such short notice because although it was a beautiful day, it was wintertime and just me. I believe they take up to 12 people every 15 minutes but have heard it sells out during certain times of the year (ie around New Year's).

Debbie

Don't you wish you were the guy who thought up the bridgeclimb concept?! My guide told us that 'Mr. Bridgeclimb' has acquired the rights to climbs on other bridges around the world. He may even have a Brooklyn Bridgeclimb at some point...(BTW--the Auckland Bridgeclimb is someone else's baby!)

We went in mid Sep weekday last year and had no problems making same day appointments. They were pretty accommodating and fit us in fairly quickly. We had reservations for the last "day" climb but as the weather was getting rainy, we dropped by to see if we can go on their next climb and the wait was less then 10mins. Have fun because it was a great experience.

We went a couple weeks ago and had a fantastic time. Here's a little tip - find out what time sunset is for the day you are going and try to schedule your climb 90 minutes before sunset. You will climb up in daylight/twilight and come down in darkness.
this is one tour that I recommend clients book when in Sydney.

1. they "think" they want to do this, and then standing small beneath the bridge they wonder "what was I thinking? I can't do THIS!"

2. weather -- your tickets are non-refundable. So, if it's raining or fogged in your experience is less than perfect.

That said, it depends on how much time you've alloted in Sydney. If you have 2 days and this is a "must do", then pre-book it. If you've got 4 days; wait until you're there.

Melodie
Certified Aussie Specialist
