I imagine so, but you would be best advised to contact the cruise line to determine their boarding/check-in time.

Normally, you would allow around 1 hour to collect your luggage and get to Circular Quay by cab/taxi at mid day.

They said you must be on the ship 1 hour before departure which is 5PM. Just wondering if anyone knew how long it wold take to get luggage at SYD airport and check in terminal at cruise line so I could make the allowance of time. Now I m thinking of flying back in the evening the night before.

You have ample time. 90 minutes should be more than adequate from aircraft to cruise terminal. I'm assuming your CNS*-SYD flight is domestic.

* I think you mean "Cairns", not "Caines"?

Plenty of time. If you're a typical cruise passenger with tons of luggage, take a cab, it won't break the bank.
