I really like Cockfighter's Ghost. Brokenwood is good also as is Peppertree.

Wine is a highly personal thing, what can be fantastic for one person could be terrible to another.

My wife and I like sweet wines like the fronties and reislings. We also like fortified wines such as torquay's, ports, and muscats.

We have a soft spot for the Hunter Wineries as they are our old stomping grounds and we have spent many pleasant days roaming the wineries there. Our favourite winery is Wyndham Estate and we do like their Bin TR2 traminier riesling.

Cheers

Sunswhtdog - various regions of Australia are known for their "signature" wines, eg. Coonawarra region in South Australia for the reds, then Clare Valley in South Australia for Riesling, and for the Hunter Valley is has to Semillon.
Of course other wines are produced in the Hunter Valley, but its the Semillons for the valley is noted for, and in particular Tyrells Winery, I think its Vat1 Semillon which fetches approx. $60 per bottle, and is recognised around Australia, as the best Semillon. Years ago, the Hunter Valley Semillon was called Burgundy. Another good white wine produced in the Hunter Valley is Verdelho.
