Beach - 1770 - any info.

My wife and I and 2 children are planning to to go 1770 in Queensland for 2 weeks. Anyone been there? If so, any information on things to see and do would be great.

We haven't been to 1770 ourselves but understand that it is very small with one or two caravan parks, a hotel and small shopping centre. It may be a bit restricting for two weeks. The paragraph below is a quote from a friend who has been there - <BR>'1770 is a delightful little place and the c/van park is right <BR>on the water and protected from the prevailing S.E. winds by the headland. <BR>I believe the road in is "MOSTLY" sealed these days, it used to be a shocker several years ago, but it is worth the effort to get there. The c/van park on the water is very popular but there is another at Agnes Waters just up the road but without the views'.

My husband & I stayed in 1770 for 3 days on our way back on Brisbane from Airlie Beach last September (2000). We found it very relaxing but it is very small (which is why we went). The beach was beautiful but if there's a strong wind - impossible to stay there. Some of the locals provided us with instructions to get to private beaches which were absolutely breathtaking. As for the road, I would say that it's about 60% paved now but you still have to drive very slowly because there are plenty of cows wandering around. Also lots of 'roos if you arrive early in the a.m. or p.m. We had a 4-door Tercel and managed it quite well. Enjoy!

Hi, <BR>Have been to 1770 many times. There are two caravan parks; some b&bs; small motel style accommodation and private house rental. <BR>Its unspoilt beauty is the outstanding feature. Few facilities although there a some small stores and eating places. Make sure you go on the Lark - an amphibious vehicle which does half and full day trips up to Bustard Head. <BR>Beautiful beaches, good surf, oysters off the rocks; good fishing. <BR>There are a number of fishing trips and 4wd tours that you can take - all low key and relaxed. <BR>I would recommend you contact the local tourism bureau at Bundaberg - their website is www.bdtb.com.au <BR>I hope you have a wonderful time!
