B&B's in New Zealand
Hello,
Does anyone know of a way I can get a listing of B&B's in NZ (book, website, etc.)?
We are planning a trip in November and would like to stay in a few hotels (in the cities) and B&B's.
Thank you to all of you who have posted - you are all a great wealth of information!

There are so many wonderful Bed and Breakfast places, and/or 'homestays' scattered throughout New Zealand! We have stayed at quite a few of them and have never had a bad experience. We so enjoyed staying with 'real people', as opposed to hotels/resorts/motels. There are lots of sources of information. I would definitely buy, "The New Zealand Bed and Breakfast Book" (http://www.pelicanpub.com/travel/new-zealand-B&B-10.htm), which is quite comprehensive and up-to-date. They have a nice paragraph describing each place and the family that runs it, as well as drawings of the homes. Here are two good Web sites for locating B & Bs:

http://www.the-b-and-b-registry.com/new-zealand/
http://www.bnb.co.nz/

One of the neat things about NZ, is that it is such a small country, that most B&B owners know each other. You can make great use of this 'network' by just asking for a recommendation from your host for the next place you are headed. Lastly, here is the phone number and email address for Pam & Forde Clarke, who run a very nice little place just outside of Wellington. Pam runs a B&B booking service and is extremely knowledgeable about where to stay across the entire country.
(04) 569-4407
[email protected]

Kim:
We spent 8 days at The Grange House, a B&B in Christchurch. Marie Simpson and son Paul run it. Could not do enough for us. Even let us use her car to go to church on Sunday. Located within 5 minutes of the CBD. Yet in a lovely neighborhood. Their email is [email protected]. Highly recommend them.
John

Alf and John,
Thank you for the information - my local bookstore actually had the NZ B&B book, so I purchased that and have LOTS of yellow highlights in it now!
Also, thank you for the recommendation of the Grange - I will be e-mailing them just as soon as I have my dates organized.
Thanks again!
