accomodation tips in gold coast

Hello.
We are a family of 4 adults and i daughter aged 12 visiting australia in the first week of july 2005.
We want to spend 4 days in gold coast. any tips or information regarding accomodation - hotel or apartments will be most welcome. Our budget is around 100 austalian dollars per day.
How worthwhile are trips to O'Reilly , MOUNT TAMBORINE and Currmbin Wildlife Sanctuary ?
Thanks

When you say your budget is $100 Australian per day is that each person or for the lot of you?
If it is for all of you I think you have got Australia mixed up with some 4th world African country because I don't know anywhere in the Western World that would feed, house and entertain 4 people for $25 Au per day. Maybe bring a tent and camp would be my suggestion.

Hi,

I'm afraid I don't have any specific tips but July is not peak season so you might be lucky and get a great deal.

I like Currumbin myself especially if you haven't seen many Aussie birds and animals before! The hinterland including Mt Tamborine and Springbrook is nice bush but it's a matter of priorities. If you are seeing other hinterland areas (eg spending any time further North) then you'll live if you don't see it. Others will probably say see the hinterland at all costs even if you miss Seaworld for it, but you'll have to make that call for yourself.

Hope you have a great time.

LizF can give you excellent advice on the Gold Coast. Like Liz said, $100 per day doesn't seem enough to me, taking into consideration accommodation, meals, sightseeing.

Hello
Thanks for the replies.
My budget of 100 australian dollars is only for the the accomodation. it does not include the meals and sightseeing.
thanks

Your best bet then would be to leave it till within 2 weeks of your trip and then look on www.wotif.com.au for some last minute accommodation prices. Should be able to get something pretty good if you do. However do look at the map provided ( I didn't at Easter when I booked a relative in and booked them on the corner of the highway ) so you don't get a bummer of a spot.

Last time we stayed on the Gold Coast we stayed at Broadbeach and really enjoyed the apartment and location. It was close to lots of shops and restaurants and opposite the beach. The tour buses all pick up at the various accommodation places if you decide to visit places like Sea World, Movie World, Dream World etc. If you only have 4 days I would skip O'Reillys and Mt Tamborine but Currumbin could be good. The apartment we stayed at is called South Pacific Plaza so if you pick somewhere in this vicinity, the location will be good. It's close to a large shopping centre and the casino as well. There is an enormous amount of accommodation on the Gold Coast, you could check www.jasons.com.au for ideas.
