Depends on your budget but you will find hotels in Sydney expensive. If you are on a restricted budget, try the Y in downtown Sydney. Pretty basic but very clean and close to everything. Also, many Aussie couples stay there and if you are going to be touring about you don't spend much time in your room anyhow.

Well, our budget is around A$140 per room per night max.... my travel agent had recommended these 2 & they are quite reasonable in prices, not quite sure how accessible they are tho'. I was also considering rydges melbourne, but am not too sure where it is located.
thanks...
Peg, Check out Rydges - Carlton, it is close to parks and the city centre is only a short walk away. This position is in a much more interesting area and should be just a little better value for money. If you go to the URL - looksmart.com.au and just type in the hotel names you can get more info about the hotels. Peg.

Peg,
That is a very good rate, the Furama is very accessable, Darling Harbour is a big tourist area linked to the main city precent by monorail (or a 5 minute walk), Darling Harbour also has a light rail (tram) system that links to the main rail system at Central Train Station. There are a number of attractions within Darling Harbour such as the Imax theatre, Casino, Maritime Museum, Powerhouse Museum, Shops, great restaurants, Chinese Gardens, Chinatown district next door, Aquarium and so on.You will find no problems getting around and the price seems very good for the area,
Rgds
Michael
