Doris -

It's not necessary to start a new post - you have two others already posted. It gets confusing for contributors to follow your thought process when we have to bounce between posts.

Some of these questions have already been addressed on your previous posts.

So, you have four days on the SI correct?

"must things" are relative - your interests may be different from others, but I will say you've got more on your SI wish list than you can realistically fit into four days, but you're making progress.

From a QT base you can see Milford Sound (very full day - 13 hours or so if you use bus transport. I don't see how you can fit in glow worms on this same day, as the drive/cruise/drive will completely fill a day. Have you looked into the cruise/fly option? This is expensive, but will save some time.

Wanaka and Arrowtown are in the same direction, so you can fit both into a day if you plan well. Don't forget to take into consideration the time it takes to drive there - over an hour to Wanaka.

Glenorchy is in the opposite direction, and I would spend at least a full day there - you can easily fill a day if you like to hike, or the Dart River Safari is a great option - it takes about half a day.

The only want to not rush through things is to add more time or cut back on your wish list.

Why not play it by ear - turn up in QT, see what the weather is up to and how you feel and then go from there? You don't need to book your activities in advance.

It's a public holiday weekend so book your tour of Hobbiton as it may be busy.
There will be heavy traffic back to Auckland on your last day. Last long weekend it took us 5 hours to drive 100 km on the motorway and SH 2.

I have not been there but other reviews have been very positive. The Waitomo Caves are much bigger.
As Mel says you can't fit everything in one day. It takes time to get around New Zealand.
