Why Should I include Colombo in my tour itinerary?

Well, we enjoyed it--and I know other who have as well. It's not a fascinating city when compared to other SE Asian capitals, but definitely worth a 1 or 2 day stop, IMO. Interesting architecture, nice shopping (particularly some great art galleries!), great food...and if you're heading back towards the airport it's a nice way to be closer to it if you (like us) happen to have an early morning departure.

"other than just being negative as usual?"
So polite. Clearly you don't read much of what I write.

Totally agree with FW- I too quite liked it and can't really see why people dislike it so much. We had a whistle stop city tour, a great dinner and then left early for the airport the next day.. I'd stay again to negate a long journey to the airport and I am quite sure I would happily return there..

filmwill - My mother always said that "you catch more flies with honey than vinegar." A classy way to word your comments to thursdays would have been, "I quite liked Colombo, thursdays, perhaps you could elaborate as to why you did not."
Sarcasm is against the posting rules. Thank you.

Ahh...now I see. A million thanks for the tips on how to speak and be classy at the same time (I still can barely rub my stomach and pat my head together!)
My mother didn't have such wise words for me (obviously). She just used to tell me "Go get my wine!"
Alas, sarcasm may be against the rules (though, really, in life it's a treasure!), but, in my response to dear old thursday, I wasn't being sarcastic, you see.
Honest assessments, last I checked, are not against the rules.
Just as Colombo isn't for everyone, some people are habitually negative.

We spent a day and a half in Colombo, and though we weren't blown away by the city itself, we couldn't help but be impressed by the location of our hotel [the Galle Face, which had the temerity to try to burn itself down whilst we were in it, which is definitely NOT cricket] and the nearby Cinnamon Grand hotel where we had a very good curry dinner, and which has one of the most stunning atriums [if that's the right word] I've ever seen. [We also got an unscheduled guided tour of the bowels of the hotel as they took us from the restaurant we didn't want to be in to the right one, which was a definite first for me].
