JWH is in Kyoto now, and alan64 is over there somewhere too. I've been hoping we'd hear from them.

Framboise and Mealea live there.

I hope someone helps you from inside. I can find all sorts of current pics of Tokyo blooming like crazy.
I did see a blog that I follow of a man living in Kyoto, and he commented that as of 4/4/05 they had not opened in Kyoto (although I see other references to the early blooming varietes being open for a week now) He says they are ready to pop but they are having cold spells still. Blog is "alive in kyoto" at: http://www.planetkyoto.com/nils/
Maybe you can find blogs on the other places too. Most of the online info is not updated continuously.

Here in Tokyo, today (April 7), seems to be the very peak. All the trees I can see around town are now in full bloom and look gorgeous. Tokyo is full of pink blossoms everywhere you look right now. So, I'd say the next 2-3 days will be the best viewing here.

As for Kyoto, I think the forcast looks accurate. It's usually the about same time as the peak in Tokyo.
