who bought the flatware in Bangkok?

I seem to remember reading a post a few months back from someone who saw flatware at a shop in the Four Seasons and then found it elsewhere for much less. Despite much searching, I can't find the thread. Was it anyone out there reading this? Help, please!

Tho I am not the one who saw the Four Seasons stuff I can highly reco Almeta - www.almeta.com for flatware. I was told to buy fro jatujak or the Night Market but discovered Almeta and there prices are comp to the above 2 places, choice of designs IMO is better. But be in touch with them on mail (their site is resonably good) as they do not have large quantities ready but have to order from their factory as primarily they supply to hotels, restaurants, etc. They are conveniently located in Sukhumvit Soi 23.

Hi Hobbes...It was me! I don't have the info on me right now, but when I get home I'll search for it and try to post it tomorrow morning. I got it at a really great flatware store at the weekend market. It's funny to see this post because my sister just e-mailed me this morning to thank me for the gorgeous flatware I sent her....bought at the same place, but on my previous trip to Bnagkok.I had forgotten to mail it to her before. She was elated over receiving it. Happy Travels!

Oops...Sorry this reply was to Welch...I shouldn't be trying to answer posts and multi task at the same time! And actually the flatware was in my room at the Four Seasons...not at a shop at the Four Seasons. Happy Travels!

If you are talking about the brass flatware, for the cost of shipping if from Switzerland, you can have mine (place setting for 8 with serving pieces). It is basically unused. I can't stand how often it needs to be polished. . . I have most of it in the original box still in its wrapping.

I think there is coated brassware that doesn't need to be polished, but how can you tell the difference and be sure that what you're buying is in fact coated?

OK...Here's the information...P.L.Bronze Co.,LTD...Manufacturer and Exporter, Bronze Tablewares...Fri/Sat/Sun at Chatuchak weekend market....Project 25 Soi 4 ....or the main store is at 7/2 Soi Bumrungsook, Hathairaj Road, Minburi, Bangkok 10510 Thailand Tel.517.1533-4 They carry both bronze and stainless steel and the prices are excellent. I priced the exact same bronze flatware in Amarin Plaza for a lot more...and that was after I had bargained it down to as low as the owner would go. This company uses nickel bronze which doesn't oxidize like the regular bronze and it won't peel. Happy Travels!

I just read the above comments. I haven't had to polish mine. I bought NICKEL bronze which requires little polishing. That is what the company uses that I bought from. Happy Travels!

There is also a store in River City that has a large selection of flatware at good prices. I've bought flatware on the street in front of the Oriental (can't remember the name but it's right at the driveway). It's about a block from the hotel and is a small store selling all kinds of souvenir stuff but they have a HUGE selection of flatware in the back. You pick the pattern and they bring the pieces you want. I found them cheaper than other places.

Gloriaelf- I was at the store...near the Oriental... that you are talking about... just a few weeks ago, but they are more expensive than the place I went to in the weekend market. Happy Travels!
