Which Toyoko Inn in Nagoya?
My husband and I just booked our hotels for an upcoming trip to Asia, and now all that's left is the hotel in Nagoya. There were a few posts mentioning the Toyoko Inn, so I checked out the website. They look ok and are inexpensive, so I'm wondering which Toyoko Inn we should choose since there are five of them. We're not actually spending time in the city itself; we're there to check out the Expo, so I don't know if it will matter which one we choose or not. Thanks in advance!

3 of them are at the station or very near. 1 is in Marunouchi and the other in Nishiki - both of which are near the downtown areas of Fushimi and Sakae...good shopping and plenty of restaurants. None of the 6 are anywhere near the Expo site. You'll need to take transportation to get to Expo...looks like the very fastest you'll get to Expo from Nagoya station is 30 minutes. It really makes no difference which you choose.
Have you seen the Expo web site in English?

Hi Sheryl,
Before you go to the Expo, plan your schedule well.
I went there last weekend for attending pre-opening event, and realized that most of the time was spent for waiting!
You should go to the venue early in the morning before the gate opened. You will have to wait for long time before having every attractions or entering pavilions.
Buy your lunch before you leave and have them with you. It will be easy to buy some sandwichs and so on in a CON-VENI stores around your hotel. You will find this kind of stores all over the city. And be sure to hide them in a paper bag or something opaque container before you get across the gate. In fact, bringing your lunch is prohibited by the Expo organizer, so your luggage may be inspected. But going there without your food means your loss of time is very huge. I had to wait for having light meal almost 2 hours!!
Don't use taxi or bus to go there because of traffic jam. Using trains is much better way to save your time.
Have a nice stay in Nagoya and enjoy the Expo!

Sheryl, I was looking for rooms in Nagoya in April a few weeks ago, and I discovered that octopustravel.com has rooms available in a number of different hotels. You can look up which rooms are available for your dates on-line, but you can also call them to make a reservation. It's nice to have some options to choose from. Good luck!

Thanks for the info, everyone! I appreciate the Expo tips, too, yathy. We're leaning towards the Toyoko Inn in Marunouchi since it appears to be newer than the others and is convenient to the subway station, as KimJapan mentioned.
