It doesn't matter what anyone else took for India.

Sit down with the cdc recommendations again. The cdc recommendations are what physicians refer to. They have the best data about incidence of various diseases and resistance to medications.

If you have a specific question, some of us may be able to offer some information, but basically the decision comes down to you and your doctor. It may be worthwhile to consult a travel med doc. Most medical schools have them, and some public health facilities have them. But no matter who you go to, you have to do the research yourself on the recommendations. Indeed, take the print our from the cdc with you to your appointment and ask questions if there is anything that isn't clear to you.

Check out the British national health site http://fitfortravel.nhs.uk. It also has a map showing the areas in India where there is a high incidence of Maleria, and those with a relatively small risk of this disease.

Take Dukoral before you leave and you cut your chances of getting the trots way, way down.
