Where to froM Udaipur?

My husband and I will be in Udaipur tonight after travelling to Delhi, Leh, Varanasi, Agra and Jaipur and would love suggestions about where to go next.

We have two more weeks in India and are considering going down to Kerala or perhaps staying in Rajasthan for the rest of the time....and confused about which direction to head.

We enjoy seeing the country, experiencing cool locations, travelling in beautiful and authentic Indian regions -- not so keen on seeing more forts/temples.

Any suggestions?

If you are not keen on more forts or temples, the choice becomes easy - Kerala. You could divide your time between Cochin, Munnar and Alleypey to make a great relaxing fortnight.

If,you are interested to visit more temples and forts, than you can move to Rankpur ( famous Jain Temples and really beautifull) and after you may go to Jodhpur and Pushkar........

the city Udaipur very much. if you're looking for a high end modern fort hotel look at Devi Garh, from which you can visit the temples at Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh Fort.

We also liked Chittorgarh which is worth seeing at the small hotel at Bassi )a very persona experience at a small heritage property) on the way to Bundi, another town worth seeing. On different trips we stayed atthe heritage properties at Deogarh Mahal between Udaipur and Johdpur and Sherpura Bagh between Udaipur and Ranthambore and I'd recommend both.

We haven't made it to Amehadabad in Gujarat but friends enjoyed it and it's on our list.

If you decide on something completely different we liked Calcutta very much and enjoyed a cruise down the Brahmaputra with Assam Bengal Navigation. With two more weeks you'd have time for a couple more days in the areas outside Udaipur and a trip to Kerala.

Hope this helps.
