Khajuraho or Jaipur? WHICH ONE?

Please help us decide. Jaipur or Khajuraho? We have 3 days to take an excursion from New Delhi and can't decide where to go.

Some people love Jaipur and others say it was a disappointment. Khajuraho seems more interesting, with its temples but it looks like its a far trip from New Delhi and hard to get to. We are leaning towards Khajuraho but don't even know how to get there.

Have you been to either? Please help us decide!

Take into consideration the heat and difficulty traveling around, too. Also, at that point, we've already gone to Agra but if anyone else has other suggestions, that would be great.

Jaipur without question. Let me put it this way, I have been to Jaipur three times and hope to get back at least once more, I have been to Khajuraho once and have no plans to go back. There really is not much to see or do in Khajuraho after you have seen a few of the temples. While they are in a nice complex and are well preserved, quite frankly after you have seen 2-3 you feel you have seen enough, and you are then searching for things to do. I love Jaipur and there is so much to see and do, you could literally spend 3 days just at the City Palace and not see all the collection. Also, there is excellent shopping. No question in my mind about a choice between the two.

I agree with Cicerone. I have been to Khajuraho twice, second time only because friends were dancing at the Dance Festival end Feb. Of course the temples are gorgeous but other than that not much to do and quickest is to fly and as you know we pay far more for airfares than locals, so I try to avoid. Jaipur has a lot to offer, shopping is great - can spend a day wandering around the bazaars near City Palace (Johari, Bari Chaupar, Hawa Mahal). Amber Palace is wonderful, taking an elephant up the hill - the Hall of Mirrors (Sheesh Mahal), especially beautiful. Also Jantar Mantar. Go out to Sanganer where you can learn all about the art of hand block printing (16 km south)and hand made paper. Good shopping for blockprint clothing and household accessories is Anokhi and Soma. Could say more here, but gotta go!

YOU WILL GET AS MANY different opinions as people on the net. My choice would be Khajuraho--the temples are nlike any you will see elsewhere. i liked Jaipur but it is a large city with a large Fort.
Well having finished reading the rest of your posting I might suggest Varnasi. <caron>he bathing in the Ganges ad the sunrise on the Ganges is an incredible experience.

Been to both - I think I'd probably say Jaipur - though I wasn't much taken with it till I went to Amber Fort.
Khajuraho was interesting but I think it's over-rated. For really stunning temples go to Mt Abu (not on the usual tourist trail - but there you go!!) And perhaps I shouldn't even put that thought into your mind as it't not a quick side trip ..

If I had just one other place to visit from New Delhi, and hadn't been to Agra, I would go to Varanasi.
