Jordan! Perta is electrifying! Walking though the mountain to get there is amazing! And the Roman ruins at Jerash are the best preserved I've seen. Enjoy! It's a place I'd return to.

Forgot to mention that I'll be in LA in two weeks, then off to BKK in July. Europe will be in late November, early December. Hawaii?? Maybe in September.

Just back from 10 days in Mexico: San Cristobal de l as Casas in Chaipas and 4 days at La Casa Que Canta in Zihuantenejo.
Leave for France May 25 for 16 days. Paris 5 days, Burgundy for special wine weekend, 7 days Provence.
December we take our longest trip ever, 26 days: Bangkok then Phuket for 3 days, Bhutan 10 days, Rajasthan 10 days. Let the good times roll!

Robbie -- haven't been to Mexico for years but those are two of my favorite places.

Next? I would have said Siem Reap/Thailand or Myanmar but with the possible transfer in 2008 it's hard to plan. I'm going to spend the next 9 months doing things in NYC and on the East Coast I've taken for granted for years -- July is Cape Cod, time with the baby niece and nephew and their parents, and the Police concert at Fenway Park.

China and Japan in June. Will probably take a week in August to Tahoe.

Just found out the kids have 12 days off after Christmas. Any suggestions?

Nothing at all exciting for us ! Every time we think about perhaps going down to Queensland again we think about flights and costs and end up just taking local trips !
A couple of trips down to Phuket for me on business but for family trips it tends to be Isan or down the Gulf Coast.
The wagon is due to be loaded up soon, dogs and all down to HH and Bang Saphan and a few days on Koh Talu. It's family fun and we enjoy taking the dogs along too, and that's what matters.

We still have snow in Japan on the list, it has become a family joke as we have been planning to do it almost every year! HK Disney also on the list ( that I am dreading ! ).

Yey! I have a (surprise) trip to add to the list.

I just found out that my husband and 4 friends have been conspiring about my upcoming "round number" birthday.....they will all be flying down to the British Virgin Islands next month and we'll be doing a charter on a 50' sailboat.

We're thinking of several options

1. India with a visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands, as well as Bangladesh

2. Syria, Lebanon and perhaps Iraq if we can find a good trip to that area

3. Southeastern Europe/Caucasus Mountain region.

4. South America/Peru

Those are the 4 areas on my short list for the next year. If budget and time allow I may try to do 2 of these in the next year. I can do Peru/Incan Empire archaeology in about a week, I think, which is what I have left for vacation this year.

Peru at the end of May into June. Then either Bhutan in September or India in November--probably the latter.
