Vietnam is safe to travel even right now. It was the country where the pandemic was stopped most quickly and efficiently.

https://thediplomat.com/2020/04/the-...ponse-success/

The question is when does Vietnam open its borders for tourists from the EU(I see you're from the Netherlands), when will flights resume and when will your own government let you travel abroad.

I think you have a good chance that you can travel in September, but don't book anything until it is certain.

No new cases of Corona since 2 weeks and only 50 people in hospitals (out of 97 million inhabitants !).Most things have reopened, except some fancy restaurants with a mostly foreign clientele (some have closed definitely because of sky-high rent).

Nothing new ! Most things reopened, including Halong Bay, but borders still closed to Foreigners and stores, banks, etc. still ask you to wear a mask to enter (masks are for sale in every pharmacy)

The first countries to be allowed entry initially to Vietnam are likely to be those with no new levels of Covid 19 infections such as neighbouring Asian, ASEAN countries and possibly New Zealand and Australia.

Europe, UK and USA are all likely to be at the back of the queue.

Stay safe all !

Vietnam to resume e-visa issuance to 80 countries

Good news!
Starting July 1, 2020, Vietnam will issue e-visa for citizens in 80 countries and also open international airports, land and sea border gates. Please follow this link for more information: https://e.vnexpress.net/news/news/vi...s-4105848.html (this link is for information only, not for advertising)

It adds 40 new countries to e-visas and the gates might be opened, BUT it says also that " This is an initial step showing Vietnam is planning to open up again....for the policy to fully manifest, there has to be resumption of flight routes as well, apart from other things. Open or not, no flights = no travel to Vietnam !

I will add that things start getting better in Western Europe, so flights from there might resume sooner than we thought. As for the USA, I am afraid our American friends are going to have to wait much longer than Europeans !

It has been 2 months without a new case of COVID-19 infection in public, so you may say that Vietnam is safe now. Unfortunately, there is still no official announcement when they will open for international flights. Hope we get it soon.

ZERO NEW case of corona Vietnam since 55 days. I do not think that international flights will resume in July since the government has recently decided to receive foreigners only from countries with zero new cases in one month

Anytime of the year. I've been living in Vietnam for almost a year now and can assure you Vietnam is one of the safest places I've ever been to. And I've lived in quite a few countries. Worse that can happen is you may get something stolen if you're out super late in Saigon or Hanoi and are not paying attention / or if you're looking like a target. But, personally, I've never had anything taken from me. If anything, Vietnamese people are some of the most honest people there is. Cheers!

There are 334 new corona cases in August, 20. I would not recommend you to travel to Veitnam right now.

Vietnam currently controls Covid very well, you will not need to worry too much when you come here.

Let's meet up in Hanoi, oh, say December 15 2021.. I predict VN airports will remain closed until August 2021. Then you will need to provide positive proof of Covid jab; medical insurance policy; big cash in bank; 7 day hotel quarantine booking; and a 2 week supply of masks!
