When in Chinatown, What Else in Area to See?
When in Chinatown, is there anything in that area worthwhile to see or visit while I'm already there? Why do they say, get to Chinatown before 4 pm? We plan on having our dinner there, so any advice of a good quality and reasonable restaurant, would be appreciated.

I would say that the best time to visit Yaowarat(Chinatown) is after dark, 7 - 8.00PM. This is when the area is transformed into an eating zone with numerous vendors, hawkers selling all sort of food. There are very good Chinese restaurants there as well and the area is well known for good seafood and sharks fin soup.
If you go during the afternoon then there are interesting markets and temples that you can explore but I personally prefer the time around dusk onward.

After I had my meals at the food stalls or a restaurant called Nom Sing in Yaowarat at nite, I would usually take a walk at the back streets off from the jewelry stores.
There is a nite market on the sidewalk where outdated magazines, sex toys, Thai Budhha/monk statues, Thai Budhhism pendants & trinkets are sold.
From there I would make a left and walk another 20 minutes, passing by some buildings and old hotels where young girls are sitting on the stairways or loitering around.
My walking tour usually end at a roundabout where I take a cab to the hotel.
Too bad, I don't remember anyone of the streets.
Most Thai street names are too long for me to remember.

Budhha statues are not supposed to be sold, people invite them home although there is money involved.
I don't think it is legal to bring Thai Theravada Buddhism statues out of the country.
