What's with this weather in Phuket

The weather reports have shown scattered thunderstorms in Phuket almost every day for well over a month. Should we change locations? We have booked a beach villa and were really looking forward to sand, sun and swimming. If there's no sun & swimming, we're not really interested in Phuket. What do you think? For anyone who is based in the area what are the weather predictions for mid February?

i've been monitoring the same thing for the past 6 wks and we'll be there in less than a week. Also disheartened to see thunderstorms every single day week in, week out, month in, month out--but some who have recently returned have said it is brief shower and then sun. Sure hope that's true for us too..

In many tropical areas worldwide, outside the obvious "wet/rainy" season, it's not unusual to have afternoon thunderstorms. These are powerful, but short lived. Half-hour, if that, and then the sun is out... and the heat and humidity return. Go to the bar and bend your elbow or have a massage at the spa or in your room.

i just came back from Krabi (3 days there). The first day was perfect, the second it rained for 2 hours in the afternoon, and the third was again ideal...

The weather reports for the last several weeks have been "scattered thundershowers" especially during daytime hours. For anyone who is in Phuket now or has been in the last few weeks, what does that mean? Are there periods of sun when you can sit on the beach and swim or take a boat trip on Phang Nga bay?

We were in Khao lak for a week Dec 31 - January 6. We had scattered thunderstorms, which were just that...scattered. One day, nothing. One day, an afternoon shower then sun. Another day it lasted a couple of hours. One day, it was raining while we were in town, and 3 km away at our hotel it didn't rain a drop, That's what scattered means.

We went out into Phang Nga with John Gray Sea Canoe...Hong by Starlight. They go rain or shine, both are great they say. We had perfectly clear weather, and saw so many stars...in addition to the hongs and the gorgeous sunset.

I wouldn't let scatterred t-storms bother you at all. Wouldn't give them a second thought.
