Hello! I was just wondering if anyone could give me a realistic perspective on how the weather will be in Thailand (Bagkok, Kanchanaburi, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, Ko Tao) in July?

I know it is rainy season, and hot, but I guess I'm wondering just how hot and rainy? I'm from St. Louis, MO USA and our Summers are extremely hot and HUMID! I was hoping it wouldn't be too much more humid than what I'm used to!

Just a little more hot and humid than St. Louis - you'll cope, I'm sure. There are frequent showers but most of the time it is dry. In July, we had no rain at all in either Koh Samui or Chiang Mai.

Take a look at www.weatherbase.com for each location. It isn't rainy season in all of the places you are visiting.

Right now, in the middle of June, we are getting rain everyday but not for the whole day. Yesterday it rain at around 5.00 pm, very sudden with a lot of downpour but only lasted about an hour. Two days ago it rain at around 10.00 am, again very sudden and lasted 2 hours. The rest of the day, when it's not raining, temperature were around 36 - 39 C and very humid.

If there's no weather front during the time of your visit you can expect roughly the same pattern as now. If there's some sort of a storm, a tropical depression storm etc, then it could rain for days continuously.

A LOT MORE humid than St. Louis IMO.

Sorry Bob, Pook but unless you think it's worse than 90F and raining, then St. Louis or Florida or even South Carolina are no worse than Bangkok in July. We've experienced both so we know. Try not to scare the newbie

Yes, many compare Southeastern US summer weather to Bangkok. The difference is that Bangkok is a pretty much year-round condition.

You may also notice that weather predictions will usually show thundershowers during this period. This is because that, at some location, during some point in time, these will occur. But, the other parts of the city could be stone dry.

For the most part, the squalls are relatively short lived. There is usually plenty of time to explore in between.
