We fly tomorrow! Bangkok, Sikkim, Darjeeling and Kolkata
We're starting to pack today to take off tomorrow. I'll post a bit from Bangkok, but we will have limited internet access in India. Of course, I'll do a full report on our time in India.
A special thanks to everyone who has helped us with our planning for this trip!

Woo hoo! I'll be verrry interested to see how this pans out. Best wishes to you both. I'm only sorry I'll miss you in BKK.
I'm off tomorrow too so, like you, I'll be in and out of contact. Just know I'm following along when I can.

Kathie, thanks for the update. Good luck with packing thsi evening,(the only bad thing about traveling, IMHO).
Have a most amazing time!!! Looking forward to hearing 'bout it all--the great, the good, the so-so. Hoping to follow in your footsteps in a year, so am selfishly eager to read of your travels. Mostly, thrilled for you two, that this wonderful trip, so long in planning, coming to fruition at last!
I just re-saw "Gone With The Wind" Vivien Leigh was born in Darjeeling.

Have an amazing & safe trip!!! How exciting! We have always (3 times) arrived in Calcutta in the wee small hours of the morning. As you drive from the airport & get closer to the city you will see so much even at that hour that will cement for you that you are in India. If you do arrive at this time make sure you look out the window of your car & into the darkness.....look for the glowing embers of a candle or fire in a road side shack, look for the people still on the streets. Take in the quiet existance of India at that time of the night & then the next day when it is all going at full steam remember the night.
Have a wonderful trip.
