Vietnam - your advice requested pls
I'd like your wonderful advice please!

My sister and her girl friend are planning a two week trip from 17 May.

Their choices right now are Cuba, Vietnam or South Africa.

They are looking for somewhere not too expensive.

They want to arrive, have hotel booked for first few days and then go free.

They'd like to know about weather etc in different areas of the country at this time of year. Also whether it will be very crowded.

They'd also like ideas for itinerary and tips on what to include.

Thnks for all you can give me on Vietnam to pass on to them.

I found Vietnam to be fascinating and friendly and involving (and very cheap, to boot, if you kept your wits about you...)

I think May is really hot--more excuse to drink the luscious lemon juice--but even though I much prefer Iceland's climate I adjusted to the heat pretty quickly; flowing clothes and sandals helped here, too.

If you'd like to email me at [email protected], I can send you my trip report; I went from North to South with some time in the central part, and only regretted that I didn't have time for Sapa, which I am sure they would enjoy and which is supposed to be much cooler!

Kavey, hi!

You're quite welcome...I envy your sister her trip to Cuba; someday perhaps I shall be able to get there. Tell her from me to have a great time. (sigh--my next trip isn't until July)

In the meantime, if anyone else wants a long and way too detailed account of Vietnam, just send an email. ([email protected]) If you do, let me know if you want it in Mac or MSWord format.
