Vietnam/Cambodia Visa Questions--SOS

Help! We are getting conflicting info from our tour company and the Vietnam Consulate and would love any advice. We are Americans and received single-entry Vietnam e-Visas for arrival to Saigon in late January. In early February, we join up with a 10-day boat tour of the Mekong ending in Siem Reap. From Siem Reap, we fly to Danang and then spend another 2 weeks traveling throughout Vietnam. The tour company (Uniworld) claims that the single-entry e-Visa is fine and that they will take care of the Cambodian paperwork. The Vietnam Consulate says that the e-Visa won't be valid. Has anyone had any direct experience with this? Hate to waste more time and $! Many thanks in advance.

This might require more homework on this than you think. I'm not sure you can simply purchase two e-Visas for back-to-back use in a short period of time.

Three years ago, we went from Hanoi to Laos to Saigon, and I researched it extensively and found that we couldn't simply use two e-Visas. See:

* VISAS & ARRIVAL *

- Vietnam VOA: We paid Tonkin Travel $5/person for a VOA letter. We apparently were not permitted to use the e-visa system because we needed 2 entries into Vietnam; I couldn’t get a good answer online about this and called the SF consulate. Upon arrival at HAN, we walked right up to the VOA counter and handed them out VOA letter and forms. We thought we’d get our visas right away. Unfortunately, we realized there were about 40 backpacker types off to the side sitting around and waiting for their visas. It took us about 35-45 minutes for them to call us up to collect our visas. For US Citizens, the multiple entry visa was $50/person.

- Vietnam Re-Entry: Landing in SGN as an international passenger, already armed with the multi-entry visa, was a breeze.
Trip Notes: 12 Days in Vietnam & Laos

I think you should to research whether this is still current policy, or whether the e-Visa policy has changed.

Your tour company is stupid ! What you needed is a MULTIPLE-entry 3-month visa, which is too late to get. Now, you need a second visa to reenter Vietnam
