Treking in Hong Kong

While I'm not really a treking expert, I have lived in Hong Kong, and I have done some treking there. The best trails are in Lantau Island (and if you do trek on Lantau, I would suggest making a quick stop to see the Big Buddha statue aswell), but the New Territories and the southern part of Hong Kong Island are quite nice aswell. I'm pretty sure that the HK tourist association has a few maps devoted just to trails. Happy treking!

Hong Kong has wonderful hiking! On Lantau, Sunset Peak and Lantau Peak are very nice (but steep). Even on HK Island you can take some great hikes. Try starting on the Peak and following the HK Trail. It goes for 50km and ends up at Shek O. Check with the HK Tourist Association for maps. The hikes are well-marked.
