Thanks for your reply. To precise my question, we want to buy our tickets in KL or Penang, not in Germany. So I need information about booking offices in Malaysia. I´m sure it is less expensive to book there than in Germany.
By the way, does anyone have good tips for nice beaches and nice accomotaion in Sumatra (except in Aceh)?
Wiebke

Last summer when we were in Malaysia, we took a side trip to Sumatra, mainly to go to the hill town of Bukittinggi. We flew from Johor Bahru (near Singapore) to Padang. The flight originated in KL, stopped in Johor and then went on to Padang. It was on Pelangi Air. It was very inexpensive, maybe about US$50 one way. We bought our tickets in KL. I don't know if this helps you (since you want to go to Medan, not Padang), but you may want to consider flying into Padang instead.
