Travel pass in Bangkok

Does anyone know about the 2-3 day pass ? Is it for both skytrain and metro ? Would you recommend it or just pay the fare when you use that transport?

The Skytrain and Metro are separate systems with different tickets and passes. We've always used the Skytrain and haven't had need for the Metro. We did get a 3 day pass. It is cheap anyway, and saves the hasslle of always buying tickets.

We simply bought a stored value card for the Skytrain. It made using the skytrain very easy - no need to get out change or currency each time.

Actually I think it was 3 years ago that we bought a pass. Stored value cards would be just as convenient I'd think, and the price per trip is very reasonable.

no, Bob you can't cash in unused stored value. But the day passes are useful only if you are going to use the skytrain a LOT. We don't typically take more than two or three trips a day. So for us, even though there was a litle left on the card, it was thriftier to buy the stored value card.

As said it all depends how often you plan to use the system during the day and how long the trips will be. If say you go from the river station to the weekend market and back the cost of 110 baht is just slightly over the cost of a day pass of 100. Check this site for ticket information

how about this: i hate the fact that many stations on the skytrain do not have escalators but only steps, so even if you were not toooooo hot when you arrived at the staion, you are surely hot after climbing those flights of stairs!!!
