Transfer time at BKK

I will be travelling on a 7:20am Thai Airways flight from Phuket to BKK (arrives at 8:50am).
I am looking to book a second ticket (BKK -->Toronto(yyz) via HKG) which is operated by thai airways from BKK to HKG and then Air canada from HKG to YYZ. This second ticket leaves BKK at 10:30am

my question is that is it enough time in BKK to clear customs? Do i clear customs in BKK or when I land in HKG? Also since it is two separate tickets will thai air in phuket check my bags all the way to my final destination (yyz?)

Thanks!

You can probably check-in at Phuket all the way to Toronto since your international flights are on Thai or a Star Alliance member airline. If that is the case then you will do all the immigration procedure at Phuket airport and will just transit at BKK only.

Call Thai Airways to confirm this.

Well I flew from Phuket to bkk this morning, the thai flt at 10am was 1 hour and 5 min late leaving... The weather was fine in both places.

I would not cut it that close. I would come to bkk late the night before. But of course this is me.

Flew the same route last year and had no problem with 1:30 connection baggage checked all the way to yyz and had all our boarding passes, like bob said unless you have delays on ur phuket bkk flight.

Not a cheap ticket to Canada. If you really have to be in Canada for sure I would go to Bangkok the day before. Spend the night in Bangkok, do some last minute shopping and only be a taxi (or Airport Rail Link) ride to the airport.

Can you make it - probably! But if your plane ride is cancelled because of mechanical problems you may miss the flight.

Good luck.
