Tour company for two-week tour from Hanoi to HCM or vice-versa in Feb/Mar
Hi,
We would like to find a reputable tour company for about a two-week guided tour from Hanoi to HCM or vice-versa. Small group, moderate price-point. We enjoy meeting people along the way, are easy going and both very experienced world travelers. No mass-market tours for us. Have come across a company called "VietnamTripAdvisor." They offer an interesting 15-day tour: http://www.vietnamtripadvisor.com/vi...etnamoverland/
We are both well into our 50s, fit and active. A bit of culture, history, good food, etc. and we are happy.
Ideas? Thanks in advance for any help!

I just took a quick look and couldn't tell how many people they limit their tours to. I'd recommend going on one where you know the group size. I can recommend both Gap and Intrepid as two moderately priced companies (google them) that limit their group size to 12-15 people. I'm going with Intrepid to India... Wednesday! Used Gap in Egypt and really enjoyed them.

We just returned after a two-week trip.
We found tonkin travel very dependable.
They were responsive and provided good guides and drivers, especially in the south (HCMC, Cu Chi, Mekong, Can Tho etc) where guide Hoang and driver Tony were outstanding!

Unless you want to be part of a group, you might consider a private tour tailored to what you want. There's a current thread on Tripadvisor (sorry, folks) covering such options for 2 weeks, HCMC to Hanoi.
Check my own recent threads here on Fodors to see what I'm currently setting up in Vietnam, with the name of the company, hotels, etc. and some prices.

Tonkin will arrange private tours, I used them and thought they were great. Also consider comeandgovietnam based in HCMC. Both those tours operators do exactly what Williams suggested tailor the tour to your needs.

OAT (Overseas Adventure Travel) does a very reasonably priced tour of Vietnam - but it is an 18 day tour. We are seriously considering their Vietnam tour since we have taken many OAT Tours and have always had great tour guides. Their tour price includes air which makes it an excellent value. Their tours are limited to 16 people. None of ours has been larger than 15 people. The url is: http://www.oattravel.com/Trips/2011/...Minh-City.aspx

We're taking a trip to Vietnam/Cambodia with Odysseys Unlimited. We used them in South America and found the guides highly educated and the trip affordable with plenty of "on our own" time. But groups are "small"...as in 20-24.
