Tokyo/Tokyo Disneyland hotels?
We are going to be travelling to Tokyo in October and would like to do 3 days at Tokyo Disneyland as well as exploring Tokyo before moving on to Kyoto and Osaka.
Can anyone recommend a decent hotel that's roughly in between the city of Tokyo and Tokyo Disneyland for approx. $100 US a night?
Our one requirement is that the bathroom facilities have a "shower" as well as a bath.
Thanks!

Anywhere you choose will have a shower. $100.00 isn't going to be easy to do though. When we go to Tokyo Disneyland, we stay at the Tokyo Bay HIlton - it's adjacent to Disney and one of about 7 hotels not Disney brand but located JUST outside the park and on the Disney monorail line....moments from the park entrance. We've stayed free with poins twice, and paid once - rate was 27,000 yen for 3 people. The problem with trying to pay $100.00 is that Japanese hotels charge per person except in the more expensive chains (which do charge per room). Most places that are in the 5000 yen per person range are not nice in my opinon. Every time we've stayed cheap, the room has been small, and I mean small. The bath has a shower...in a unit bath. One room big enough for one person to stand in, with toilet, sink and shower/tub crammed in there. It has also always been very stale cigarette smelling...hotels in the 5000 yen per person price range are typicially business hotels and don't have no smoking rooms. If you don't mind any of those things, then you can start your search by looking for business hotels. Disney's website also lists all it's affiliated hotels...the official hotels as well as the other classes of affiliation. The lower levels of affiliation often have some good deals, and offer bus service or passport purchase options or packages, which are well worth investigating.
You might want to stay in 2 seperate hotels, as Tokyo Disneyland isn't actually in Tokyo but an hour or more away by train. Or, consider the Odaiba area...newly developed, nice shopping, maybe some reasonable hotel deals.
Business hotel chains that are generally OK, and if you get a newly built hotel are even nice, are APA hotel group, Washington Hotels, and Tokyu hotel group. There are lots of hotels that are independently owned.
Finally, it may be a bit too early to book for October to get a package discount plan. Now places are booking for summer vacation in August. If you wait a month or two, you may find better rate plans.

I live in Tokyo and to help make the best of your time, I would suggest (as KimJapan) does that you consider 2 locations/hotels. 1 near Tokyo Disneyland (TDL) for 3 days, and then move to another one more central. Traveling back and forth between one hotel to TDL and then to central Tokyo would waste not only time but also money for trains. And if you have small children, you may not want to travel back and forth so much.
With that said, the $100 a night condition is the tricky part, so if you can find a hotel in that price range then that may be a deciding factor.
One other consideration is that TDL is on the Keiyo Train Line (Maihama Station). The line starts from Tokyo Station. If you want to stay somewhere in between, that would be a good line in terms of location when traveling to TDL and to central Tokyo. Two hotels I found are at the links below. Costs are still over $100, but you can take a look. And as KimJapan mentions, I hope you don't mind match-box size rooms. All the hotels I have stayed at in Japan have some sort of shower arrangement.
Finally, I am not familiar with these hotels at all, so can't say if they are good or bad, (I did a google.com search for hotels Keiyo Line.)

(Not on Keiyo line, but feasible.)
I wish you a fun stay.

Thanks for your replies.
We don't have any children...just my husband and I.
I must have got some strange information because I was on the TDL site and it said that Tokyo Disneyland was about 20 minutes by train from central Tokyo.
Anyway...we don't want to stay in a TDL good neighbour hotel (excuse my Canadian spelling LOL!) we were hoping to stay somewhere in between...but looks like that's not a good idea.
We want a fairly nice hotel, definitely NO smoking smells or too small. But we don't want to pay $400 a night either (which is what most of the Disney hotels and central Tokyo hotels cost).
I'll check out the links..thanks again

Shaenee,
I get a better idea of your situation.
About travel time to TDL. From Tokyo Station, the ride only is 15minutes, but getting to the actual train platform from where ever you are staying, will take additional time. YOu'll have to plan for that, but with not little kids, that broadens up the areas for your hotel search.
The big, brand-name chain hotels will cost you a lot, and the closer to TDL you get, the more expensive hotels are too. TDL area is really bad for budget-minded travelers.
I might not be much help, but looking on the Internet for hotels may be your best bet. Something in your range might come up. Another less-costly chain (business hotel style) is Sunroute. http://www.sunroute.jp/SunrouteTopHLE.html
Good luck in your search.
