I have purchased train, plane, and ferry tickets on several occasions from Royal Exclusive Travel (www.royalexclusive.com). I communicated with the agency via email, faxed my credit card authorization, and the tickets have always been waiting for me at my hotel upon arrival. I have used them for tickets in Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia - I do not know if they offer services in Laos.

Generally, tickets are the same price whether you buy them in the US or in Bangkok. You can purchase your Bangkok Air tickets online at www.bangkokair.com Agencies often charge a service charge for tickets (about $20), just as they often do in the US.

my most recent experiences...i found a bkk travel agent on line and communicated with her in 2000...she saved me over $100. per ticket on bkk-hanoi via air france...this year (for nov, 02) i contacted her for bkk-yangon and bkk-siem reap...we made the reservations at the beginning of the summer and when i communicated with her (or tried to) at the end of the summer she did not answer---i finally found out that she was out of business---start over again....damn

bangkok air has an office in NYC....try
karenl(that an l as in long)@sitanet.com...she was very helpful and made my confirmed reservations for siem reap (phone--212-279-6682)--two round trips bkk-siem reap-bkk $555. charges $20 for use of credit cards..... her name is karen leeghin...
i think you can save more when you are in bkk but you have to be flexible about when you want to go
i also did my visas here at their embasseys in washington---took about a week to process
