Thailand-Protests a problem?Weather in March/April?
My husband and I (mid 30's, moderate travelers) want to go to Thailand end of March-April for 10 days. We have Questions:
1. Are the protests a problem enough to cancel our trip?? Here is a link.http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/14/world/...html?hpt=wo_c1
I was in Greece during the riots and it wasn't a big deal?? the news casts in USA made it a huge issue but it was tiny and contained when I was there.
2. How is the weather end of March/1st week April? We can do hot(like 80-90's) but want to avoid rain. Want to see beaches mainly. Will these dates work?
3. What should are hotel/food budget be per day? We know this can vary, jsut want an estimate. Heard food was cheap? We like 4-5 star beach properties(Ritz in Cayman Island, Secrets Maroma Mexican Riviera and Iberostar Grand Dominican Republic are a few recent stays)

Here are my answers for your questions:
1. By March or April the protest will most likely be over with.
2. March and especially April is our summer months or the hottest and driest months of the year. Expect temp hovering around 100 - 104 F and very, very humid.
3. For most location or cities in Thailand a 4 star hotel should be around $100 a night. Note that the middle of April is the Thai New Year and hotel prices will be high during the middle of the month.

Not the best time to travel to Thailand. April is, as a friend of mine says, "hell hot." Can you choose a different time of the year?
Hanuman knows best about this (he lives there), but I also expect the protests will be history by March/April.
I've never used an agent to plan my trips to Thailand, but he is a guy I've used for plane tickets [email protected] This is the local American Express Agency in Bangkok.

I travel to Bangkok every year in April. I can tell you that it is indeed hot hot hot! My visit is always the last couple of weeks of April. I think we might try going to Phuket or Koh Samet this year for a few days.
