Thailand Itinerary?

My husband and I will be spending 11 nights in Asia. Which Itinerary do you think would be best.
4 nights Hong Kong
4 nights Bangkok
3 nights Phuket
or
3 nights Hong Kong
3 nights Bangkok
3 nights Phuket
2 night Chang Mai

We are not athletic or looking for adventure activities. We are looking for interesting cultural experiences, scenary and food.

Thanks for your help, Inor

Your first plan is clearly better. Remember, you have to consider travel time. Plan B means you'd have 2 full days in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Phuket and one full day in Chiang Mai. That isn't enough time to have an experience of any of those places.

Itinerary #1 is better by virtue of the number of destinations included for 11 nights. Since we don't know when you are traveling though we can't comment on whether it is a good time to visit Phuket.

#1 is clearly better. It will allow you to enjot each of three locations and avoid always being in transit. What hotels are you considering? We have suggestions for any budget.

Thank you every one, you made this decision much easier.
FYI, I assume you understood that by 11 nights, I meant 11 nights in hotels, and that the 11 nights was not including the additional 2 nights we will spend on the plane coming and going back from LA.

GPanda, we are considering the Le Meridien in Phuket and the Shangra-la in Bangkok. Haven't started researching hotels in Hong Kong. All suggestions are welcome.

Inor

Marya, we are going in Jan. I did some research before planning when to go.

If you want the famous view of Hong Kong Harbor, you'll want the Peninsula, the Intercontinental, the top Towers floors of the Sheraton, or, farther from the Star Ferry, the Kowloon Shangri-La. Of course, there are lots of wonderful hotels in Hong Kong, it just depends on what is a priority for you.

We've stayed at the Meridien Beach Resort. It is about 10 minutes from Patong, just north of Karon beach. It is a "U" shaped building around a wonderful pool. We stayed there twice and loved it. It's a solid 4 star. On the Starwoods site it's about $220 per night. It does have its own private beach.

If you want to spend closer to $400, you can probably get a more luxurious resort. Look for places that are smaller with fewer rooms.

Take a look at this booking site that a lot of us use www.sawasdee.com Note that the rates include tax and service which is 17% and often the rates include breakfast.
