It's a pity no one ever says where the claims for these alerts come from. We are enjoying our holiday.

The problem is if they have a source, and say where it is, the source is no longer useful!

We are still going according to plan except that we have decided to go to a quieter place away from the busy areas. I believe it is perfectly safe though.

The Travel Authority, Police and Army all say no problems with terrorists in Thailand. There was some concern about Phuket and South but from what I have read in the Bangkok Post there are more police and army than there are ants in these locations to protect the tourist. I still plan to go next month although I will be in Bkk and not in the South. If we let terrorists change our plans then they have succeeded, not to mention the impact on Thailand's economy.

Today the US State Department just posted a travel advisory for all Southeast Asia. Check it out.

If you want to continue to travel to areas that have serious travel warnings then go, its your business.
As for me, I dont see a reason that I HAVE TO be there right now at this time. I will visit one of the other, many beautiful places in the world, where things are somewhat safer!
I would be concerned and try to avoid traveling to known ongoing hostile places, but I also feel that the new public announcment targeting at the entire SE region is probably a bit overshooting. Singapore, for instance, as a highly westernized city nation is always security concious and I cannot really see more dangers out there than other places.

And also, it is a PA, not a travel warning. There are difference between definitions of these two. Therefore, one should also look at individual countries to make informed decisions.
