Swimming in Waterfalls at Luang Prabang

All - If you are not supposed to drink the local water, can you safely swim in the waterfalls. I can't see swimming without some water ingestion.

Thanks

Lisa

I swam in the Kuang Si Falls with no ill effects. I did not ingest any water though - if you think that that will happen, you should skip it. Same goes for swimming in the ocean (anywhere).

Craig,

Ok, you piqued my interest. Never been to LP. Is the water at the falls clear or the same as any other water I've seen in SEA? Did you immerse your head under the water?

Just curious, don't think I have seen anywhere in SEA(hotel pools excluded) that I would swim in yet alone dunk my head into but then again I haven't seen much, lol

btw I swallow seawater all the time here. Never a problem.

Aloha!

I'm not Craig, but my daughter went swimming at the same falls. The water was a beautiful turquoise - looked like the Caribbean or Hawaii. As I recall, she didn't duck her head her under - just waded around (up to her shoulders) and enjoyed the cool water. I didn't join her because I wanted to spend the time hiking to the top of the falls. Anyway, she didn't get sick or anything.

HT - The water was pristine - no worries at all - and yes, I did the total immersion thing.
