We're flying at 1pm from Bangkok to Luang Prabang on Bangkok Airways on Thursday January 21st, so its an international flight. Is it sufficient to arrive at Suvarnabhumi 2 hours before the flight? We're staying at Centre Point Silom, which is near the river at the end of the skytrain, so I believe I should allow 1 hour for the drive.
I normally leave my house about three hours before an international flight time, although it rarely takes more than 20 - 30 minutes to get to the airport. I like to arrive early, but I have access to lots of lounges at BKK. ;-)
On a side note: They now have big video screens mounted outside of immigration in the departure hall so you can see the queues inside both the immigration areas. Sometimes one area gets very crowded while the other has almost no waiting. Check the screens before you go into the areas.
