Suggestions for New Years in Bangkok

Willing to hear any Ideas and suggestions.

I would just like to do a little something special.

I am staying at the Marriott resort and spa. Will I be able to see fireworks from there?

Thanks to everyone for there input.
Eric

Re fireworks -- there are fireworks on the river in the Oriental, Penn, ROS etc area. Don't know about the Marriott -- I would assume you could see them. Many of the hotels have gala dinners (pricey ones) and there are also dinner cruises which obviously see the fireworks.

you can ask the marriott...they will undoubtably have lots of other things going on, but not sure of fireworks....better to get a boat trip for fireworks up river near sheraton and shangri-la....i doubt marriott has fireworks and it is too far to see them well...there may be the marina buildings in the way...

Marriott normally has fireworks as well as even the Menam hotel. However, the best fireworks display will be around the Penn, Shangrila and Oriental hotel area.

What ever you plans are beaware that from fround 11 pm to 12.30 am the bridges accross the river in the hotel areas will be almost impossible to pass.

If you're a big fireworks fan and money is no object your best bet is to book one of the hotel dinners at the Oriental, Penn, Royal Orchid or Shangila. The Oriental has 3 or 4 options (one of which is a dinner cruise)and I'm sure the other hotels do as well.
