Here is my idea of an ideal Hong Kong day. (Been going every year for over 14 years. Have stayed at the Royal Plaza, Mong Kok at least six times.) I would rise early, work out in their nice health club, have the hotel's buffet breakfast then take a walk over to Bird Street. I would walk from one end of Bird Street to the other end and then walk back to Sai Yee Street through the flower market area. (Ask the concierge to give you directions.) If you are interested in shopping, there is a market area two blocks from the hotel. I always find cute children's clothes to bring home, but it is a hunt through a lot of stuff. You may feel you don't have time for this. I would then take the hotel shuttle to the Star Ferry or take the subway. Take the Star Ferry over to the Hong Kong side. Catch a cab to the Peak tram or walk through town and window shop along the way. Go to the Peak and walk along the loop enjoying the view. There are resturants there for lunch. After lunch, I would go to the Hollywood Street area to look around in the antique shops and then head back to the hotel. I would plan a special dinner at the Pennisula or the Regent if you really want a view. If that is too much of a splurge, consider tea or at least a drink either place. To end my evening, on the way back to the Royal Plaza, I check out the night market "Woman's Street" Lots of knock off stuff (and be careful of your belongings) but if you haven't been to such a thing, it is an experience. This would be a very full day. Hope it gives you some ideas. Happy travels.

I personally think that it is better to go to the Peak in the evening. The view is nicer!

Hi,
I agree the peak is fantastic what a view !!
We bought a lovely 'oil painting' from an old guy on the top, it was totally an "original".. next time we go we will get another. As as we walked off he got another from his bag...I laughed till I cried, it made my day.
I still look at that picture with fond memories of a wonderful day on the peak.

Muck
