splurge hotel in KL; with 4 yr old!

We will be travelling from Rome to Auckland in November and will have a 4-day layover in KL. We will have our 4 year old son with us. Wondering if anyone can recommend a very nice (dare I say luxury) hotel in the city where we will not be frowned upon for having a child. In a perfect world, it would even be a suite-type set up where he could sleep in a bedroom and we could have a seperate room for hanging out. Pool would be a huge plus. Thanks so much!

Mandarin Oriental in the heart of KL overlooking the world's tallest building. Cheap rate - around US$100 you can get a great suite. Email me if you want more on KL

The MO is very nice (and new) but the service is rather inconsistent and the staff can be quite ignorant. For great service, I'd go for the Ritz Carlton- it's close to a number of major shopping malls and the service is the best I've experienced in KL. For about US$100, you get a club room with access to the lounge, breakfast and a free massage. I'm sure you can upgrade that to a suite for not much more.

Check out The Sunway on http://www.asiatravel.com/malaysia/sunway/
it is a little out of central KL but would be perfect for you with a child. I've found tariff on the internet with asiatravel much cheaper than a lot of agents can do for you.
Peg.

We have just returned from KL and have tried Mandarin Oriental and Renaissance.
If you have a kid, probably Renaissance is better as it has bigger room and bigger swimming pool. Also closed to the monorail station. But the food in Mandarin is outstanding.

Also heard that Regent is quite good and reasonably priced.
