skytrain and boats along Chao Phraya
This might seem like a dumb question but here goes. Different places to sightsee in Bangkok are accessible by skytrain or boat along the river. Is there anyplace that tells you which are accessible by which and what the stops and the timetable are on each?
Thanks Cheryl

What you need is a map. There is no time table. That things along the river (like the Grand Palace, Wat Po, Wat Arun, etc) are accessible via water taxi, those located near a skytrain stop (many shopping centers) are accessible via sky train. For some things, you'll just want to take a taxi. Taxis are very cheap.

Check this site for the skytrain station informatiom and route.
http://www.bts.co.th/en/map.asp
By clicking a station on the route map it will tell you what is nearby that station.
Use the river ferry (from the skytrain river station) to get to the Grand Palace and other attractions. There is the normal river ferry (5-10 baht) or the tourist ferry that only stops at the piers that are the most interesting for tourists. This ferry cost 15 baht but you can gst a 1 day pass for 100 baht. Check this site

This site puts you in the middle of the page so you have to go to the top . Click on a stop for information of what is there.

I recently bought the new Fodor's Thialand 2006. At the end of the descriptions for the various places to see it lists the skytrain as well as the subway stop to take.
I also just received a Nancy Chandler map I ordered from Amazon. (You can also get it direct from her website but it's shipped from Thailand and would take at least an extra week to arrive).
Anyway, after reading about the places I think I want to put into my itinerary, I can look at the map and see where they are so I can make up my route. Maybe that will help you.
As far as the timetable goes the subway runs from 6am till midnight and passes every 5 minutes during rush hour and every 10 minutes during the other hours. Adult fares are B14 to B36 depending on where you're going (kid and sr fares also avail).
The Skytrain runs from 5am to midnight as well. Not sure of the frequency, maybe someone else can help with that, but it seems like you don't have a really long wait wherever you go.
The web site from Scotters should help too.
